You Are Hired

So you are thinking to restructure your resume once again just because you are not getting any response from prospective employers OR you need to hire someone to re-write your cover letter for the 3rd time?

Wait, don’t do that…it’s not going to work anymore

Before I write anything about the latest idea of job hunt . Let me share the key points discussed by Laszlo Block, Google’s VP of people operations in his recent interview.

G.P.A.’s are worthless as a criteria for hiring
Brainteasers are complete waste of time for assessing candidates
14% of the team members in Google are not even graduated

These points are the part of organization’s latest H.R strategy which has outdated our job hunting plan and is the main reason we are getting fewer interview calls.

Organization has revamped their hiring strategy upside down but we haven’t changed anything yet, we are still waiting in the same line holding our resume and nicely sketched cover letter.

Stop waiting in there, you are standing in wrong queue.

Relying just on resume is overrated, necessary but not nearly sufficient. Fewer organizations are interested in your resume any more. Plenty are interested in what you’ve done.

And to show what you have done . ‘Resume 360’ is the idea, big picture is that you have to work out on every ‘angle’ of your resume and ‘create a movement’ in your job hunt.

Here are a few tips.

Try arranging a couple of letters of recommendation from companies your employer knows.
Do you have a blog related to your field of work? mention it.
Any relevant thought provoking idea / Research work you are conducting  Or contributing in? attach it.
Try to build a stronger first impression on your employer by creating a movement.

These are the general guide lines towards ‘Resume 360′ and creating a movement along with your resume I am sure you will add more thoughts in this idea.If your work, project, ideas are not outstanding then stop saying that you are ‘best fit’ and ‘remarkable’ for the position applied.

‘Reset’ your expectations and re-align your job hunting strategy, with the help of these self marketing efforts make your resume count.

Remember, great and most fascinating jobs are not filled by merely sending your resume.
